Single Vision lenses are for one focal point only. They can be used for distance only, up close for reading only, or intermediate for computer only.

Bifocal lenses have a visible line separating two focal points. They are used for either distance at top and near at bottom, or intermediate for computer at top and near on bottom. We offer two sizes, either 28mm wide or 35mm wide.

Trifocal lenses have two visible lines separating distance from intermediate, and intermediate from near. We offer two sizes, either 7x28 or 8x35.

Progressive lenses are for viewing at all distances from far away to up close and everything in between. They do not have a line separating any of the focal zones which is cosmetically pleasing to most. The reading portion is narrowed more than the lined bifocals causing more head movement from side to side to line up the clear zone for reading larger magazines and newspapers.

PUPILLARY DISTANCE

PUPILLARY DISTANCE or PD is the distance measured in millimeters between the centers of each pupil. This measurement is critical when ordering your custom prescription eyeglasses. If you received two lower numbers (Example: 32/33) this value represents the measurements from each separate pupil to the center of the nose for distance viewing. If you received two higher numbers (Example: 65/62) the larger number represents your pupil measurement for distance and the lower number represents the pupil measurement for reading. If you have two smaller numbers check the box “I have two PD numbers” and enter them separately; the first represents the right eye, the second represents the left eye. If you have two larger numbers and want distance vision glasses enter the larger of the two numbers. If you have two larger numbers and want reading vision glasses enter the smaller of the two numbers.

Note:  Never try to guess your PD. Either ask for it from your optometrist or optician, have a friend measure it, or you can measure it using a mirror.
